Our raw-fed donor FMT product is sourced from a select network of genetically tested dogs raised on a sustainable, eco-friendly property. Their diet is meticulously balanced, with 90% plant-based and 10% animal-based foods, promoting a nutrient-rich foundation that supports optimal health and microbiome diversity. This plant-rich approach not only fosters greater diversity within the microbiome but also minimizes the reliance on animal products, aligning with ethical values that respect animal welfare.

Each donor dog enjoys a fresh, organic, and raw diet, complemented by integrative medical care that prioritizes their well-being. Raised in an environment free from antibiotics, NSAIDs, pesticides, and chemical flea or tick treatments, these dogs also drink chlorine- and fluoride-free water. Minimally vaccinated, titered, and born vaginally, they benefit from the natural microbiome transfer from mother to pup.

With this carefully curated, health-conscious donor network, our FMT products are crafted to deliver superior support for your dog’s digestive health and overall vitality—while honoring sustainability and animal welfare principles.

Why FMT?

Canine FMT (Fecal Microbiota Transplant) treatment involves transferring fecal matter from a healthy donor dog to a recipient dog's gastrointestinal tract to restore the balance of healthy gut bacteria. Here are some of the main benefits of canine FMT treatment:

Renowned Integrative Veterinarian Dr. Judy Morgan shares her expert insights on Legacy Biome FMT—why it stands out, who it helps, the conditions it addresses, and her recommended dosing guidelines.

01

Treats digestive disorders

Canine FMT treatment has been shown to be effective in treating various digestive disorders in dogs, such as inflammatory bowel disease, chronic diarrhea, and Clostridium difficile infection.

02

Improves gut health

The gut microbiota plays a crucial role in maintaining overall health in dogs. Canine FMT treatment helps improve the balance of gut bacteria, which can lead to better digestion, absorption of nutrients, and a stronger immune system.

03

Reduces antibiotic use

Antibiotics can disrupt the balance of healthy gut bacteria in dogs, leading to various health issues. Canine FMT treatment can help reduce the need for antibiotics, thereby minimizing the risk of antibiotic-associated side effects.

04

Cost-effective

Canine FMT treatment is a relatively cost-effective treatment option compared to other treatments for digestive disorders in dogs, such as long-term antibiotic therapy or surgery.

05

Safe and minimally invasive

Canine FMT treatment is a safe and minimally invasive procedure that can be performed on an outpatient basis, with few reported side effects.

FMT Vs Probiotics

Fecal microbiome treatment (FMT) treatment is a process that involves transferring the microbiome from a healthy Dog donor to a recipient Dog's gastrointestinal tract to restore a healthy balance of gut bacteria. With FMT, the recipient Dog is able to colonize the healthy microbiome within their own gut providing protection against disease progression and reversing many symptoms. Probiotics, on the other hand, are ingested to improve gut health and treat certain conditions but as they don't colonize the gut, they need to be taken daily to maintain the health benefits.

The benefits of FMT over probiotics include:

Greater efficacy

FMT has been shown to be more effective than probiotics in treating certain conditions such as recurrent Clostridioides difficile infections (CDI), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

Long-lasting effects

FMT has been shown to have long-lasting effects, with some studies suggesting that a single treatment can lead to sustained improvements in gut health. Probiotics, on the other hand, may require ongoing supplementation to maintain their benefits.

Potential for treating a wider range of conditions

While probiotics are primarily used to treat gut-related conditions, FMT has shown promise in treating a wider range of conditions such as metabolic disorders, neurological disorders, and autoimmune diseases.

Noodles the Crestie autoimmune skin disorder

My Chinese Crested Noodles (11) has always had great skin until December when he became extremely itchy with plaques all over his back. He has never had allergy issues preciously.

He didn’t respond to steroids and was put on antibiotics for over 2 months. Blood tests and skin biopsies didn’t show anything significant either but he was getting worse. The diagnosis was an autoimmune disease in response to an allergy. Apoquel helps and he is still on that at present.

I got the Legacy Biome and started them the day after he finished his last antibiotic to help rebuild his gut biome after the antibiotics and he has just finished the four week course. I also changed his protein source, (he is raw fed) added more omega 3 and ensured his diet was grain free.

Just a month later he has made a fantastic improvement and he looks back to normal. Im sure the boost to his immune system has played a significant part in his recovery.

I am gradually reintroducing him to different foodstuffs to see if he has a reaction but so far so good!

Good stuff

My dog hasn't had any tummy issues but I wanted to add the FMT to his health protocol to make sure his microbiome is in tiptop shape. Also about 2 weeks after starting the FMT treatment I realized his papiloma warts were shrinking, and now that we're almost done with the bottle they are gone and no more new ones are growing.

One month in!

Okay so we are nearly one month and I think it’s already making a difference. Harley a bit more zip in her step, she is still experiencing some allergy like symptoms but less than when we started. We’ll definitely be continuing and see where it takes us.

It is helping

My veterinarian mentioned FMT as a possibility as my dog was experiencing ongoing soft/mucus or loose stool over 3 months. Within 3 days of starting this product I saw improvement. It has not been a perfect miracle but clearly helping. He ate something in the yard and set himself ‘off’ again but it did not get near as bad as usual and resolved over several days (whereas it would have lasted for weeks or needed medication prior to this). We are still on a journey with this, but it has definitely helped and things are much improved.

My dog was diagnosed with C Diff. Healthy Gut Restore helped improve her GI symptoms. Would recommend trying if you dog is experiencing GI symptoms.
