Founder's Story
Meet our founder, Jason Klop.
Founder, Legacy Biome
After more than a decade practicing as a Naturopathic Doctor focused on the healing science of gut health, I'm so happy to bring that same rigour, focus, and passion home to the animals we love.
ORIGIN
From a dairy farm to naturopathic medicine.
I grew up on a dairy farm, surrounded by animals, convinced I would become a veterinarian. That path changed in my teenage years when I got sick and my parents took me to see a Naturopathic Doctor. What happened next genuinely altered the direction of my life. The results were dramatic. I had seen conventional medicine fall short, and here was a practitioner who addressed root causes rather than symptoms. I trained as a Naturopathic Doctor and never looked back.
I went on to build a clinical practice centred on gut health: IBS, SIBO, IBD, and the complex digestive conditions that conventional gastroenterology struggled to resolve.
THE SCIENCE
The founder of Canada's first FMT facility.
Where Legacy Biome began.
It was a particularly difficult patient case that first introduced me to fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT), and the clinical outcomes I witnessed led me to found Novel Biome, Canada's first Health Canada-licensed GMP facility dedicated to FMT manufacturing.
Through that work, I crossed paths with a pioneering veterinarian who had been applying the same principles to dogs with remarkable results. That collaboration became the seed of Legacy Biome.
Why I built it.
Access to properly screened, high-quality FMT was the barrier. FMT only works as well as its donor sourcing and manufacturing standards, and those need the same seriousness as any pharmaceutical product. That gap is why I built Legacy Biome on the same best-in-class donor screening, quality systems and standards we developed at Novel Biome.
The science does not change because the patient has four legs.

THE COMMITMENT
Not just another pet supplement company.
Built to a higher standard than required.
Our donor screening principles, coupled with the manufacturing standards at Legacy Biome are shaped by everything we learned building Novel Biome.
When our animals are well, something in us settles too.
Our animals are family, woven into our daily lives. Legacy Biome's mission is to improve the life of our loved dogs and cats.
THE SAME SCIENCE, APPLIED AT HOME
